MOST WANTED WEDNESDAY #25

This week my Most Wanted Wednesday is pretty big and pretty unattainable.. I want EVERYTHING from this music video.

Now, there is only one music video I could be talking about here today seeing as it leaked last night.. yes, I'm talking about Lady GaGa's You & I. Little Monsters everywhere have been waiting for ages for her new video and we didn't even know what song she was releasing as a single until very recently so as you can imagine I was so exited last night when this video leaked online.

I was surprised that You & I was the next single, I thought it would either be Americano or Hair (maybe we'll get those too, never underestimate GaGa). The video for this song makes no sense, it's weird and it's typically GaGa and that's why I love it! You've got bloody ankles, an ice cream truck, mermaid sex, man GaGa on woman GaGa action, weird alien-ish probing, barn dancing and a piano in the middle of a corn field.. ooh and a wedding scene! She certainly packs a lot into 6 minutes and 22 seconds!

I just absolutely loved all the outfits in this video, my favorite is the black one she wears with the funky hat/hair combo with the bloody ankles.. I thought it was great, but seriously did love Lady GaGa as a mermaid. I can tell you right now, there are gonna be so many 'mermaid tutorials' uploaded onto YouTube soon, I think mermaids are gonna get big. It's just such an amazing video, amazing song.. very real, quite country-esque and it's an improvement from the 'The Edge of Glory' video. Love it!!

By the way, this is the single cover.. yes that's Lady GaGa as a man.

THE VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED

A couple of nights ago The Village of the Damned (1995 version) was on telly, it was really late at night/early hours of the morning and I was going to go to bed but decided to watch a bit of this. I ended up watched all of it, it was really good! I had heard of this film but only seen it referenced in other films and telly shows, like in The Simpsons. It was quite creepy! I love horror films, but this was less horror more eerie.. with a slash of gore. The bit I hated most was when that asian woman put her hand into the boiling pot of water, I could totally feel her pain!

Anyway, apart from it being a good film what I really enjoyed were the costumes! Not so much of the other cast, but the costumes that the children wore. They all wore a similar monochromatic grey-tone uniform, but each child had a different look. Tailored pinafore dresses, smart trousers, collared shirts with bow-ties and sleek outer-coats all of which had a slight 60s mod feel to it.

I absolutely loved each and every outfit they wore, I'm a big fan of the 'school uniform look' anyway, it's my signature look.. tight black jumpers with crisp white shirts and sometimes a statement tie/bow-tie. It's a great look and despite the nature of a uniform it's a look you can customize and change up a lot. My 'school uniform look' is black and white, but after seeing The Village of the Damned I quite fancy trying out a all grey look, but using various shades of grey to keep it interesting just like the children had e.g. light grey shirts with  a dark grey jumper.

I don't know if this would work with any other colors, as in a full uniform outfit. Black would possibly work, white I'm not too sure of but say green or red, that wouldn't work at all. So the key to making this look work is to keep within the monochromatic color spectrum of black, white and grey.

Oooh, actually.. cream might work quite nicely! Tell me what you think, either in the comments below or on my Twitter.

BOY YOU'RE AN ALIEN

OMG.. how can I even explain my amazement at this?

The music video for Katy Perry's new song E.T. featuring rapper Kanye West was released this Thursday and already I'm in love with it. The song itself is great, one of the best off her 'Teenage Dream' album, it's futuristic sound and content just makes me hit that replay button over and over.

But when the video was released my jaw dropped and has stayed there since Thursday! A team of highly talented make-up artist transformed Katy into a beautiful alien with various looks/guises. The sharpness and intricate patterns on her face are just exquisite, Katy recently revealed that it took 5/6 hours to transform her and I can see why.

One of my favorite looks is when her face is painted a gorgeous mix of white, pink and blue with very a delicate pattern on her forehead and bright blue cat eye contacts.. but one of the most amazing parts of this look is the hair. She has these white braids that just seem to defy gravity, I wanna know how they did it!! Would love to have that hairstyle for a fashion event or photo shoot.. would get so much attention! I'm going to find out how they did it, I just have to.

This video has totally re-sparked my interest in futuristic/spacey/avant garde alien fashion, last summer I designed a little 6 piece collection inspired by space travel.. this is really inspiring me at the moment. When I get a chance I might sketch down a few ideas, might do some illustrations. Right, thats enough of my rambling about this.. check out the epic music video for E.T. below. Would love to hear your comments on this too!
