THE BLANKS - SIN CITY 9/2/11

So Wednesday night I did something very exiting.. I went to my first ever gig!

I went to go see The Blanks (Ted's band from Scrubs) play at Sin City in Swansea. It turned out to be one of the best nights out I have ever had, it was so different to all the other nights. No over-bearing club with awful music and people who look they had been kicked through River Island and come out the other side with the entire new season on their back!

It was a great environment, I felt so comfortable there unlike in the previously mentioned clubs. The night got even better when they came on stage, the crowd roared and cheered. Their unique mix of a sort of 'barber-shop quortet' and accapella style was so refreshing and fun, it was great to dance and sing along too.. the whole club was singing along to their covers such as 'Charles in Charge' and even Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream' plus their own songs they had written. In between songs they did comedic sketches, which were so funny. The crowd was going wild, the energy in the room was so intense, so was the heat for that matter! (Note to self, never wear a leather jacket to a gig again, I was so hot!)

Afterwards I got the very lucky chance to meet the band! They had recognised me from the front row where I had been standing, one of them, George, came up to me and gave me a big hug! Chatting to them was really fun, they seemed to really love interacting with their fans. I still can't believe I shook Ted's hand! So along with that meeting I got all of their autographs and a picture taken with them.

It was such an amazing night, this was my first gig and it certainly wont be my last.

THE BLAZER OF SPRING

It's been a busy week! As I have my first University interview at Uni Glam next weekend I have been busy putting together my portfolio of my work along with working on my current project for college. This weekend I went to Swansea to photograph the architecture as research to put into my journal, it was a great walk and I noticed a lot more than I had before.. perhaps because I was actually making an effort to find great stuff to photograph?

Anyway, after all that I decided I needed a little retail treat. It's that time of year where I start thinking about my Spring/Summer wardrobe and to kick it off I bought this effortlessly chic cotton blazer from H&M, its a dark grey with one button closure and it's deliciously loose fitting. I thought it would be perfect for the warmer months to add a little class and smartness to a casual outfit! Best thing about it? It only cost £14.99, yes you read that right.. £14.99! I'm totally going back and getting it in black, they also have it in cream but I don't wear cream very often.

I also tried on this little black leather jacket and I fell in love, it fits me perfectly and is just amazing in my opinion!  How great would it look with a distressed vest and denim cut-offs!? I'm totally going to get it next time I go shopping, it's only £29.99, great price for something you can wear with everything all year round. An investment piece without the investment piece price!

P.S. excuse the pictures, I never look good under shop changing room lights! Does anybody know what I mean?

Recent Purchases

Today I bought this awesome mock leather jacket from Topman, I've been wanting a leather jacket for ages now and this is perfect. I love all the zips and epaulette details. The leather jacket is such a iconic garment, it can be sexy, it can be rough and it can be effortlessly chic (sometimes all at the same time). I cant wait to wear this in the autumn and pair it with some great jeans and vintage look t-shirts.

I think that a good quality, simple leather jacket is a wardrobe staple as it can be teamed with almost anything and suits the majority of body shapes. This is available to buy here for £55, sizes from XXS to XXL.

Black & White

I think black and white is my favorite color combo, it's so chic, classic and timeless. I've been wearing it a lot lately, it may be summer but it's been raining constantly for the past month here.

People think that wearing lots of black is easy to do, but you have to be careful not to get lost within the fabric and lose your shape and personality. This outfit has got attitude and will definitely get you that second look!
