MOST WANTED WEDNESDAY #24

Another wedding dress, but I just couldn't not upload this.. it's so beautiful.

This weeks Most Wanted Wednesday is Fleur Delacour/Weasly's wedding dress from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One. This dress is just visually stunning and quite different from any other wedding dress I've come across.

It's an elaborate layered white tulle dress with a over-lied lace motif in a gorgeous dual phoenix design that starts at the bust and carries on around the dress, what makes it so different and enchanting is the use of black lace on the white background in such a unique motif.

Although after researching more into this dress created by costume designer Jany Temime it seems like the design was blatantly copied from an Alexander McQueen dress from his Autumn/Winter 2008 collection.. at first I did think it was an altered McQueen dress but I'm really surprised she has been allowed to copy to such detail. McQueen's team failed to comment, maybe they are Harry Potter fans and felt maybe flattered.

Plagiarism issues aside, this dress is absolutely gorgeous and fit the character, the theme, the film perfectly.. the phoenix bird is a symbol of love in a way because there is rebirth, love never dies.. it is born again.

MOST WANTED WEDNESDAY #21

I watched 'Bride Wars' on Sunday night, I wasn't in the best of moods and this film totally cheered me up. I had never seen it before and thought it was going to be kind of predictable, but it exceeded all expectations and I was laughing all the way through it! Now, this isn't a film review.. I wanted to talk about 'that dress'.

The Vera Wang wedding dress that Liv Lerner (played by Kate Hudson) wears at her ceremony. Vera Wang is one of the best wedding dress designer there is in this world, she creates such beautiful, and romantic gowns.

The dress used in the film was custom made, it cost $25,000 and it is a strapless drop waist ball-gown with a Lyon and Chantilly lace appliqued bodice and a layered tulle skirt. A version was made for retail afterwards which was available for $5000 (top image is the retail version).

Pictures do not to this dress justice, in the film the dress moves so beautifully and even looked good during a fight scene down the aisle! Won't say too much, just incase you haven't seen it yet.. but you must go watch this film!
