VICTORIA BECKHAM OPTICALS

Exiting news for visually challenged fashion lovers!

Victoria Beckham is adding optical glasses to her Victoria Beckham accessories collection!

Image courtsey of spicegirlsforever.it and US Glamour

In this September's US Glamour issue, my personal style icon Victoria Beckham plays guest editor. Along with a witty interview there are many gorgeous pictures throughout the issue, this is one on my favourites.

She wears a A/W 12/13 dress from her mainline collection and gives us a sneak peek at her foray into optical glasses design. The glasses she is wearing in this picture are from her first optical collection, details are practically non-existent at the moment in time unfortunately about the collection and when it will be introduced/released for sale.

I'm extremely exited about this new venture, for years I have been a fan of her sunglasses and own a little collection on my own. I wear glasses, not all the time but I would definitely buy a pair of Victoria Beckham Opticals. So hopefully they will be released soon and when they do I will let you guys know!

INSPIRATION: VICTORIA SS12

Right now I'm being inspired by looser fitting clothing, brighter colors and more playful shapes and details. All of which describe the Victoria by Victoria Beckham SS12 collection perfectly.

I think I may try to ease in some bright colors and scallop details into my wardrobe, maybe it's time to get out my sewing machine and play around?

SUSHI

Sushi.. the quintessential food of Japan. It's cool, it's flashy, it's oh so chic and I've finally had some!

Living in a capitol city such as Cardiff I have the benefit of better shopping, better nightlife and better restaurants. Just across the road from me is YO! Sushi, I pretty much walk past it every day and I've always wanted to go in there, last Thursday I was lucky enough to be treated to lunch there. I was so exited, it was the first time ever trying sushi.. it was an experience!

The restaurant itself was so cute, everything was brightly colored with Japanese anime/manga style illustrations on the wall and most importantly it had the little conveyer-belt in the centre of the room with the tables surrounding it with all the little dishes of sushi going around on it.

We had a menu, but as I had never had Sushi before I just choose what looked nice off the conveyer-belt, it all looked so great.. everything was so perfectly presented and colorful. So I started off with Prawn Nigiri, prawn on top of rice, that was really nice. Next I had a Spicy Chicken ISO, it was chicken (obviously cooked!), katsu sauce and shichimi powder.. it was seriously spicy, but lovely.

After those I had Prawn Tempura, prawn fried in a light batter (btw, if you hadn't guessed it by now.. I like prawns), it was really nice to have a warm dish to contrast with the cold dishes of the sushi before it. Then to finish off my meal I tried the YO! Roll.. which was salmon, avacado, masagago and mayo. This was the only one I didn't like, well it tasted great it was just the texture of the raw salmon that put me off, it was a bit slimy! I also had a few Edamame beans, which Victoria Beckham has been rumored to eat to stay in shape, they were interesting, bit boring in large quantities.

It was a great lunch, I always love trying something new and there is just so much more on the menu that I can't wait to go again and experiment some more! By the way, yes I used chopsticks to eat my meal.. but I had great difficulty using them, I looked like a fool and it took me quite a while to get the sushi from the plate to my mouth. I'll practice using chopsticks properly before going again, I will learn!

THE LONDON ADVENTURE: PART ONE

So I had a great adventure this week, an adventure up in the great city of London. It was a busy 3 days, was meant to be 4 but as I'm ill at the moment I just had to come home.. missed my own bed.

So got there Monday lunchtime, dropped off my bags at the hotel (which was horrible and I don't even want to talk about) and went straight to the V&A.. my favorite museum. Unfortunately the fashion exhibition was closed for renovation but the rest of their collections was awe inspiring as usual, they did have a good selection of stage/theatre costumes on display though and The House of Annie Lennox included some of her outfits she's worn throughout her career which was quite interesting.

The rest of the day was spent visiting Harrods, I spent ages walking around the womenswear designer floor.. having a good look at everything. I found the Harry Potter shop which was quite the experience, it had everything Potter related.. even actual costumes used in the films on display around the store!

As every Fashion Design student should do I was looking at how each garment was made, what fabrics were used and finishes. I was surprised at how on some of the dresses that cost thousands actually used quite simple but effective design features.. even I could replicate the techniques. I found the Victoria Beckham Collection, was so amazing to actually see and feel the pieces in real life. I was really surprised that on one of the dresses it didn't actually have a lining! It was a stretch dress but with lots of seams and they were all visible on the inside.. not even finished!

I also found the Victoria Beckham handbag collection.. which I absolutely died over!! They were the most stunning and well crafted bags I had ever seen and held in my life.. you could feel the quality and now I understand the high cost. I got to hold a few of them, including the one I've been lusting over ever since the collection was unveiled.. the black crocodile 'Victoria' bag, £18,000. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture taken holding it as we got told off but to actually hold it felt amazing.

I'll talk about the rest of my trip in my next post, I would post so many more pictures but somehow took about 300 in the space of 2 days!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

With University starting oh so very soon I've started thinking a lot more about clothes (more than I usually do!). The most important outfit for the entire year is the outfit I wear on the very first day, first day outfits have always been a very big deal for me. For the past 3 years I've started a new year of College and that meant a special FDO (first day outfit), I recently found pictures of each of these outfits and I was amused at how I was dressed and how different my hair is every year. Not that I'm embarrassed at how I was dressed, quite the opposite.. it shows how my personality/style was at that time in my life and the sort of image I wanted to project.

That's the biggest factor in choosing a FDO for me, the image I want to send out to the world. I'll show you the pictures and tell you what I was trying to achieve with my image.

1st Year.

I was a wannabe Spice Boy.. it was the look which I spent the last year of school perfecting and working towards. Entire new wardrobe full of bright colors, polo shirts, very bling-y jewelry and that required a new look. I loved my hairstyle then, short on the sides with a faux mohawk with blonde highlights.

The image I wanted to convey was of confidence, an obvious penchant for style and just a newer, better me.

I wore a Topman polo shirt, Topman bootcut jeans and a Topman wristband to match my polo shirt.

2nd Year.

I changed quite a bit style-wise over the past year, out was the clearly defined boyish look and in was the first forays into androgynous dressing. I become a lot more confident in myself and that was clearly shown through what I wore and my hairstyle.. it's not that clear in this picture but I had one side long with a fringe and one side shorter tucked behind my ear.

I wore a Topman white t-shirt with my new dVb Naomi flared jeans, this was the first outing of these jeans and I felt amazing in them. I think that day I wanted to show how much I had grown in confidence and started down the path of a more individual and unique style.

3rd Year.

I look completely different to the previous two outfits and it was because I felt like a completely different person. My style had really evolved and my androgynous image was fast becoming my signature look, one of the biggest transformations was my hairstyle! Here I am with the Victoria Beckham bob, which I was extremely proud of and really marked my change of image.

I went for a androgynous school-boy look, with the crisp white shirt, the jumper but with a fashion twist with the Armani watch and my circle sunglasses. I wanted to look like a fashion student and I think I achieved that!

I've been told when my friends I made that year first met me they thought I was very glamorous.. which is such a compliment!

So those were my FDO's over the past three years, I haven't decided what to wear to the first day of University yet.. it needs a lot of thought and planning. Of course I will be continuing the tradition of taking a picture of what I'm wearing on that day!

I want to share some tips with you for your FDO.. wear what YOU want to wear, wear something that you're COMFORTABLE in and make sure you wear something that makes you feel CONFIDENT.

MOST WANTED WEDNESDAY #18

I knew exactly what I wanted to blog about for this week's Most Wanted Wednesday last Friday whilst watching the Royal Wedding. Philip Treacy hats!

It seems like every well dressed woman who attended the ceremony on Friday wore a gorgeous Philip Treacy hat or fascinator, one of my favorites was the midnight navy one Victoria Beckham wore. From what I read it was a custom hat made to match exactly the color of her dress and it was only completed an hour before the ceremony!

So I googled and found the hat I really want to wear, shame I can't afford it or have such a grand occasion to wear it.. well if I did own it I would wear it to college! Better than let it collect dust in a box, I'd wear it with pride.

MOST WANTED WEDNESDAY #11

As it's March it's officially Spring! The weather lately here in South Wales has been great, sunny and this week the temperature has risen quite nicely. Like yesterday I sat outside in the sun with friends all lunchtime and it was just awesome, cannot wait for the Summer!

Anyway, this got me thinking I need to add to my already large sunglasses collection.. and these are my dream pair. Victoria Beckham 18-karat rose gold-coated sunglasses! 18-karat gold!! Lately I have been more interested in gold jewelry and these would be the ultimate gold accessory for the sunny weather.

These are obviously inspired by the rose gold Rolex watch Victoria herself wears on a daily basis, it's what made me start to crave gold jewelry to be honest.. and who could blame me? It's such a luxe, glamorous and covetable material. As I write this I am wearing a headband with gold studs, gold is going to play a big part in my Spring/Summer 2011 wardrobe.

I would wear these sunglasses to compliment an outfit consisting of.. black gladiator sandals, white tailored shorts, slouchy white vest, a loose black linen blazer and to match the sunglasses a gold watch.

Lunch With Victoria Beckham

Ok, not really.. but I thought it was a appropriate title!

After 10 years the elusive and celebrity disliking fashion mag '10' finally used a celebrity as their cover star and it is no other than Victoria Beckham! I was shopping during my lunch break, saw it and got so exited. The editorial and interview are great, its so refreshing to see her do something different from the usual 'hard-faced' shoots and I really like her hair looking all curly.

I was shocked at the price of the mag though, £6.95! But this issue is already selling on eBay for around £30, so I think it was a good investment buy.

There is more news coming regarding my upcoming clothing line the 'House of Slater' maybe even some sneak peak shots if you're lucky! Hehe.

Hottest Celebrity Look Of The Week..

This week Victoria Beckham celebrated her 35th birthday, Friday night she went to XVI restaurant in Hollywood with her 3 sons; Romeo, Brooklyn and Cruz.

In true Posh style she wore a beautiful grey dress from her new Autumn/Winter 09 Victoria Beckham Collection, she accessorized with a gold leaf headband, a black clutch bag and some fabulous black and silver Christian Louboutins

She looks amazing and the dress is exquisite, i love the zipper detail on the back which is a signature design element of a Victoria Beckham Collection dress.

Hottest Celebrity Look Of The Week..

Heidi Montag was out and about in LA with hubby Spencer Pratt filming scenes for The Hills this Thursday, she was wearing a pair of white dVb bootcut jeans from the S/S 09 collection.

She matched her purple top with her skyscraper purple heels and accessorized with powder blue Hermes bag, the same handbags Victoria Beckham favors.

You can get them here at Yoox for £160. They are a stunning pair of jeans, with a unique white star on the back pockets. Heidi looks amazing in them.

Credit goes to victoriadavidbeckham.blogspot.com for the image, thanks!

Hottest Celebrity Look Of The Week..

Brooke Shields wore a Victoria Beckham Collection dress to the launch party for Latisse in LA today.

The actress wore Orthez, a black strapless dress with built in corsetry and a full-length zipper at the back. This dress costs around £1,600 and is sold out in every store worldwide.

I think she looks amazing, this dress accentuates her natural curves perfectly.

This is a positive step forward for Ms. Beckham, to have a high profile actress wear one of her dresses to a launch.

The Gladiator Shoe Returns

The Gladiator style shoe was a big trend last summer, as worn by celebrities such as Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham. This year the trend has returned, evolved, with rocking studs, laces and in strong colors.

I absolutely love these platform gladiator sandals from Topshop, they come in either black or white.I would choose white, its my favorite color!

They cost £70 and come in sizes 36 to 41.
