THE CROWN OF FLOWERS

As I mentioned in my previous post as part of this project I am experimenting with different things not only to help my get a better grade but help with coming up with ideas for my final piece.

This is one of the first pieces of experimentation that I have done, a floral headpiece. This was actually quite a simple thing to make, I found these great artificial flowers at a this random shop in Gorseinon, they're huge and I just had to buy them! They came on really long stems which I cut off and I simply just used my hot glue gun to glue them onto a headband.

The end result is stunning, especially when it's on a person, very dramatic! I just love the color scheme too, pinks and purples are just so summery, anyway just a quick post about this. Not much I can say, well.. I'll let the pictures do the talking for me! As always comments on here or on Twitter are greatly appreciated, I love hearing from you guys!

MOST WANTED WEDNESDAY #13

Hey guys, how is everyone? Sorry for the lack of updates since last week, lately I've just been so tired and unmotivated to do anything. Which isn't very good for this blog or the start of my project, but I'm slowly working through it! I'll be posting about the first week of my project this weekend, going to try and get as much work done as possible so I can get to the fun stuff!

Anyway, to this weeks Most Wanted Wednesday. I received an email off one of my best friends Kelly, she had found loads of floral stuff on Tumblr for my project, and this stunning piece was included.

The sheer scale of it is what makes this headpiece stand out from 'regular' flower headbands/headpieces, the flowers themselves must be hand-crafted because I have never seen artificial flowers made in that size. I would love to know how it was made, I'd also love to find out who made it. Unfortunately as with a lot of Tumblr finds the original source of the material gets lost in the blogosphere, so if any of you know where this is from please get in contact so I can give proper credit for this gorgeous piece.

ASOS COLLECTION A/W 2010

Inevitably the Summer is coming to the end and now Autumn is almost upon us we must start planning our new season wardrobes! This Autumn/Winter season I am determined to stay warm in a fashionable way.. no more bulky layers, mismatched knitwear (I can't stand it when my scarf and gloves don't match!) and unflattering outerwear.

I have started to put together a 'to buy' list for this season and one of the collection that I looked at was the ASOS COLLECTION, I adore the fur and knitwear.. two of the greatest things about the cold weather: the chance to wear two of my favorite fabrics.

Anyway, these are my personal favorites and will hopefully be in my closet in the following months!

These are fabulous, they would add touch of English countryside aristocratic glamour to any outfit.

This headband is super cute and would definitely keep my ears warm, also this plain grey marl hoody is perfect for layering on those lazy days.
I love these vintage inspired satchels, can't decide what color to buy, so I might have to buy both!

December '09

These past few weeks I've been so busy with college and other fun stuff, on Tuesday I went to The Clothes Show Live in the NEC, Birmingham, which this year turned 21 and had a Winter Wonderland theme. It was amazing. I saw clothes up close from designers such as D&G, Vivien Westwood, Burberry and Missoni. More on that in a later post with pictures of the day.

Yesterday I had a photoshoot! It was for a friends photography coursework, she wanted a fashion shoot and I was her first choice of model. The shoot was so much fun, different outfit changes, poses and we managed to take about 150 pictures in just 90 minutes. We are continuing it today, with more outfits and some great accessories. As soon as the shoot has finished and the pictures processed I will be uploading them here.

Also I have been researching personal sewing projects, such as embellished (crystals, studs and rhinestones) headbands, ruffled cuffs and neck pieces as seen in the Chanel Fall 09/10 collection, and working with frayed materials for a deconstruced chic look. I don't sew much for myself but starting from now I will, going to The Clothes Show Live has given me so much inspiration and a renewed vigour to get sewing and rock my own unique style (as should everybody else too!)
